What a weekend in Philly.
I imagined the event and how it would go about 100 times in my head leading up to it, but I never thought it would be THAT perfect.
From the early morning and late afternoon takeovers of The Field House bar to the generosity of the Isles fans contributing their hard-earned money to our Jam Kancer raffle (We raised $296 total) to the camaraderie of the subway ride to the blitzing of the bar above section 217A at the Wells Fargo Center, the day will always have a special place in my heart.
I want to truly thank everyone who made the day special from Mike Carver, who tirelessly promoted the event on the Isle Seat podcast to the Field House for opening early to Mikey at Isles Meetup Charlotte for setting the bar high and my amazing wife who kept track of the raffle. But, Devin at YesMenOutfitters really deserves the most credit. From setting up the relationship with the Flyers, to creating the incredible merchandise for the event to being a mascot of enthusiasm at the game, he never stops working to bring Isles fans together. I’m very proud to call him a friend.
This is just the beginning for this group and all Isles Meetup groups. Our goal is simple: to make sure any Isles fan, no matter where you live, doesn’t have to enjoy being an fan alone. It’s a simple concept to us, but one that comes directly from the heart.
We also want to continue to give back to organizations that mean the most to our players and the fans. These groups and events don’t mean nearly as much if we can’t use our platform for good.
Thank you again to everyone that made the day so special. Now, let’s finish the season strong and takeover the Playoffs the only way we know how. As Devin says, “you miss 100% of the shots the mob doesn’t take.”
