We did it! We stomped on their throats and made it into the second round beating the Penguins in the series 4-0. Last night the Isles Meetup LI crew made their way to Oyster Bay Brewing to hang out and enjoy some Barn Rocker with the Blue and Orange Army. It was a night full of cheers and celebrations.

The Oyster Bay Brewing Company was great to us last night. They had deal specials going of $3 Barn Rockers and even through out some free pizza for the fans. The night didn’t start how we wanted as the Penguins took the early 1-0 lead, but the Islanders, just like that have all season long, quickly answered to tie the game to send the bar into cheers!

Islanders fans erupt as Jordan Eberle ties the game at 1-1

After this, the Penguins seemed to give a lackadaisical effort and the Islanders made sure to take advantage. The Islanders were relentless in their pursuit of the puck and made sure to give the Penguins as little opportunity as possible. Toward the end of the first, it was Brock Nelson who gave the Islanders the 2-1 lead and the “Yes Yes Yes” chant broke out!

You could feel the nervous tension in the air as the second remained scoreless and it felt like the Islanders just weren’t closing things out. You could hear fans start asking how many overtimes we were going to play tonight because we just couldn’t get that final goal. However, the time kept winding down on the clock and late into the third period we went where Josh Bailey finally scored that extra goal and the bar went bonkers!

I had a great time hanging out with all you lunatics and meeting some new faces. Also some other cool notes, News 12 ended up filming a segment of our meetup at the bar and did some interviews after the game. In the first video you can see News 12 capturing another angle of the game winning goal below and then see interviews from the bar in the following video.

This has been a really special year for Islanders fans. I feel like as a community and a fan base, we are becoming closer and closer. I love how many amazing people I have met this year because of the meetup groups and I can’t wait to meet and see so many more of you at the next one. Let’s go Islanders!
